Seagate 200GB Ultra ATA/100 8MB Buffer ST3200822A-RK- Retail Hard Drive Kit $29.99 after Rebate

http://shop1.outpost.com/product/4008252

I saw this drive posted in here but with a higher price.

# Capacity: 200GB
# Seek Time: 8.5ms
# 7200RPM
# 8MB Buffer
# 5 Years Limited Manufacturer Warranty
# Regular Price - $149.99
# Limit 1 per customer/household/address.

Most hard drive failures are due to poor case ventilation or they put them in cheap USB or Plastic enclosures with poor ventilation which crank the heat up and cause them to fail early.

Unless of course they are IBM Deathstar drives then they were just defects. But they sold those defects to Hitachi. Which I am sure Hitachi is now wondering what junk they bought from IBM.

"Call... for Availability

This product is on back order. One of our many sales representatives can assist you in finding a similar product that is in stock."

Thats bait and switch! Not good because I miss Outpost commercials when they shot hamsters through the O in outpost.

I don't know what they are pulling but they havent filled my order from last time, same drive, still back ordered, I called the manager to see what the deal is, they need to fill the orders from last time before they run the same drive on sale again!

Is in stock now, just ordered one.

edit: That's odd...Call for Availability again.

I'll update if I get a cancellation notice.

This is an amazing deal. For this price Outpost.com probably had a huge run on these things, and sold out quickly. BTW, I highly recommend these hard drives, not only are they super quick, but almost inaudible.

Oh, to clear up the proper usage of bait and switch from dictionary.com:

" a fraudulent or deceptive sales practice in which a purchaser is attracted by advertisement of a low-priced item but then is encouraged to purchase a higher-priced one called also bait advertising."

Ok just replying so it isn't overlooked:

I hadn't seen the Mushkin deal until after I ordered the Seagate drive, so I placed an order online. When I placed the order, it had indicated that the item was in stock (same as the hard drive).

I called customer service to combine my order, the rep said fine. Then he comes back saying both items are OOS and won't be available until after the rebate has expired. :|

I cancelled both orders. I'll buy elsewhere, I don't need this crap.

I'm looking at the LA Times print ad right now. The drive is 39.99 after two rebates. Nuf said. I'll be getting one today to put inside my hacked Fossil Wristwatch PDA. :/

I ordered online this morning on the old deal while this was still in stock and before this thread.

Outpost changed the rebates and soon afterward... I received a email cancellation.

damn i was torn when this drive was $49 after rebate... but this deal is smoking... now all i have to do is find someone in LA to get one for me.

40 seagate rebate and 30 fry's?

i get bad vibes from fry rebates. lol. i'll pass this time, waiting for another deal where it's only one larger seagate rebate. 🙂

edit: whoa, both rebates are from seagate. hot hot hot! 🙂

Mine has been shipped and I should have it in hand by Friday.
(need to get a life, no more HTPC projects after this one).

It's now back up but is $39 AR. Still pretty hot but frustrating that they cancelled my first order for OOS then jacked the price.

Anyone have a like to the 8/19 to 8/25 rebates on this Seagate 200GB) drive? The current posting at outpost dont cover those purchase dates.

Thanx
