Well, I ordered one. I have a 160 GB WD that my parents will end up with. MWave was my vendor of choice until I heard about Newegg. Nothing to worry about from MWave!

FYI, will call (pick-up) is $5 if you're willing to come to Walnut (60fwy & Fairway). I would get in on this deal if only didn't need some more ram for all my comps!

edit1: direct link
edit2: hey mwave gave their site a new facelift! looks more newegg-ish:)

optimistic, your direct link shows $139 as the price! If you use the link the OP provided, it is still showing $127.

I ordered the seagate drive for 127 and had to ask a question about another product so I called the 800 number for product information. Got a very knowledgeable operator after only two rings.

Some people don't mind waiting 8-16 weeks to get their ~$50 back...some people (like me) are fed up with MIRs and will go for a straight-up good price from a reputable shop over a semi-shady MIR deal anyday. The Tiger Direct deal was $149.99 - $50 MIR, this one is $136 shipped. I just like my odds better with this one, plus I don't like supporting a scam house like TD.

I just had to reply and quote this, I agree 110%, I absolutely HATE MIR's plus so far out of 3 mirs lately, I've had 1 returned as "invalid" (the item doesn't qualify wtf?) and 1 paid, and 1 "MIA" no check, no replies, no nothing.

Also Mwave is the absolute tops in fast, reliable, and trustworthy, I order in the neighborhood of a thousand bucks or more a month in parts from Mwave and I've never had a single problem, the only RMA I had was painless. When I order from Mwave I know my parts are shipping either later that day (or if I ordered after around 2PM) early the next. I don't have any doubts.

Gimme a decent deal with no MIR's ANY day over a stupid MIR.

FWIW, i emailed mwave about this and they replied:

Thank you very much for your interest in our company . That hard drive only
has a 1 year warranty . Please let us know if you have any further
questions.

One year through mwave, or, one year through seagate?

They have several of the other brands (WD, Maxtor) i believe for 60-70 cents/GB as well.

I'd have to assume through Seagate. AFAIK, MWave doesn't warranty anything past 30 days, and there are some manufacturers (Intel Retail, HP, 3COM...) they won't warranty at all. HOWEVER, I would suggest anyone seriously concerned getting a part number on the drive and verifying it w/ Seagate because MWave is insanely unreliable when it comes to them listing the warranty on a part accurately (usually because they never update item link descriptions properly). Other than that, I have to say they rock.

Well, I ordered my on Monday with Ground Delivery (SSLLOOOWWWW). I expected it on Friday or Monday.

It is sitting on my doorstep at home now! Only 2 days from California to Michigan!

MWave comes through!

I think I will have to let it warm up before I use it...

Let us know if you scored a 3 year warranty. Mine was on the truck for delivery today but the lazy bastages took it back to the FedEx shanty cuz it wasn't due until tomorrow.

big deal.

Nice crap on the thread.

I've checked the site that has the drive for $134 shipped and they suck. The people that have rated them on pricewatch have the following rating: 35 Positive - 3 Neutral - 24 Negative.

They have pretty mixed reviews and I wouldn't trust them. This is a very good deal on the Seagate especially if you consider that MWave is a rather large company that is known to do very well.

mwave.com is a very reputable website...

Well so far from what I can see, even if the drive is $139....that's still cheaper than Newegg. Newegg has that drive for $166. This isn't to crap on Newegg because I've had nothing but good service from them and Mwave. I'm merely stating that even though the drive is now $12 higher, it's still a pretty good deal. :)

I got mine today, it looks identical the retail drive I have. That makes me confident it has a three year warranty.

Drive showed up last night.. 3 days from CA to NJ. Works great.

Formatted it to two 90 gig partitions. No problems at all under Windows XP. Runs completely silent.
