I think it's a hot deal, nice price for a well reviewed 1TB drive. Unfortunately these 1TB drives are staying on the expensive side, granted this deal is hot for today's prices.
Hopefully, sometime in the near future, we'll see these start to really come down in price, $200 dollar price would be flaming HOT!

I know this is offtopic but i wanted to ask. I seen at fry's they have the 500GB SATA 16mb cache for 99 bucks and was wondering is it worth the 20 extra bucks to get the 500GB 7200.11 32mb version?

I don't believe you would see a $20.00 improvement for a mere 16mb more of cache.

You should only see a minor improvement to write speed if the files your writing are between 16mb and 32mb which is probably rare instances but if your writing more than the buffer anyhow it may not show any improvement.

Read speeds should be the same because it would need to read the data from the platter which is slower than the memory anyhow.

Short answer save the $20.00.

The previous 7200.10 is loud. The 7200.11 is also loud out of the box.

However, some reports suggest that it is possible to enable AAM on the 7200.11 to significantly reduce seek noise. That wasn't possible on the 7200.10 or 7200.9.

Of course, if you are really concerned about noise, you buy the Samsung 500Gb from Newegg for $109.

If you case isn't so small, then you can get 1.5Tb for $270.
