You guys got me wondering. I went to OM yesterday to get one of these drives and the shelf was empty. I bought a calander and asked the drone at the register if there was any left. She just said no. After reading this thread I should have asked someone on the floor. I was in a big hurry though. I may have to make another trip.

I sure would like to have 2 of these for a raid setup.

what if the one hard drive fails?
fill up a 160 gb in one week? okay...

Pretty easy to do if you're bootlegging DVD's...

wchou, how many times do we have to repeat that you can get PAID to take this drive with a PM at a friendly CC? Can you not figure out that this is goodness?

I don't think anyone has mentioned that the drive at Circuit City is $39.99 after rebates... So if the PM doesn't work it's still better to get it at Circuit City.

my CC was out of these hard drives. It might be a better deal at cc in the long run, but its $60 with out rebates at OM

if you notice. the one at office max is without having to wait 3-4-5-however many months for the rebates to come in. some people do not like to have to hassle with rebates. some have had bad experiences with not getting their rebates at all.

quite true. i am having to go back and pull up my rebate forms from a sony 810a i bought @ best buy because sony mesa az rebate address denied my $20, saying they won't honor it as it is open box
definitely wouldn't have bought this drive if it weren't for the rebates

I got one at Circuit City.

Paid $54.99 +tax.

Still a better deal at Circuit City because they beat competitors price by %10 with price match.

ymmv on that. a lot of people get denied pricematching for various reasons.

You can't compare DVDs with HDDs 😉

are you guys sure the rebates will work for this? Because i PM it at CC and the rebate stuff didnt print out and the guy told me that they dont give the rebates because of the PM.

I am filling my rebate out as I type.

Seagate Rebate
Click on pre-submit rebate. Be sure to select the 160 ata hard drive not the internal one.

http://seagaterebates.com/promocenter/seagate/index.shtml

then go to Circuit City and use keyword ST3160023A-RK , then add to list, the check out, and fill out your information.

I didn't get rebate form printed out either but I went back to get one and they gave me one but filling it out online is easier.

They better give my my money even though I price matched. It's their policy to pricematch so they better not complain! Or I'm gonna raise hell!

haha yeah i know.

ANywho, yeah thats what i did.

EDIT:

When you searched for the rebates at CC through their search engine. Did you select both the $40 and $30 one?

Should i select 160gb ata hard drive or ultra ata?

Sh!t, the brooklyn store is fekkin useless. I am going to just give up on this deal. Congrats to those of you that got a drive.

Because I don't feel like looking for a DVD out of my 400-DVD album

I dont get it. CC has the rebate registration for the 30$ and 40$. But seagate has the 40$ one too. So which rebate from who do i complete? I already presubmitted to both segate and cc.

FYI I picked up this drive at Wal-mart for the original 59.99 with no ?'s asked, they price matched it without even calling to confirm availability at OM. Some of you could still get the drive at Wally world if your just looking to get the drive and not make money, lol.

If you click on this link

http://www.ccityrebates.com/promocenter/circuitcity/promo_search.html

It says "There are three ways to search for rebate offers:"

use #2 "Search by Product Keyword:"

and cut and paste ST3160023A-RK in there and only one coupon should come up.

If you were getting two before read the description of the hard drive rebated very carefully and the dates. Something will not match up.

If you understand what you are asking.

The $30 rebate is a circuit city rebate and $40 is a Seagate company rebate.

The two $40 are the same rebate.
