Seagate 120GB HDD = $49.99 after MIR @ BB

wow that seagate page IS pretty terrible, but it does say that the buffer is 8mb.
So tempted, but i really want a 200giger at this price instead 😉

what's the warranty and do the MIR accept one copy/barcode?
Thx

The $40 MIR requires the original UPC from the box, while the $20 MIR only requires a photocopy of the UPC barcode.

This is a good deal for me. My maxtor is starting to make clicking noises once in a while. I guess it's about to die soon, right?

All Seagate Retail drives have a 5 year warranty.

IMPORTANT!!
This isn't the case - there are 2 boxes (they look different) with the same product; however 1 box is 1 year warranty and the other box is 5year warranty... they are both the same price

the 5 year is plain blue and white box and 1 year is fancy pants graphx box

just fyi

Same 5 year warranty regardless of package. I found after I bought one of these today that the box did indeed say 1 year warranty. Before I went back to BB to exchange it I looked atr their site and found that after June 1 2004 all of ther desktop, laptop, and entry-level server drives have the 5 year. They have a FAQ that says even drives that were in the channel with the older packaging have the 5 year deal. I opened the box and punched in the serial and part numbers on the seagate warranty verification site and it came back as under warranty until October of 2009 even though the box said 1 year.

I got my BB rebate last week, but still waitng for manuf. rebate

anyone else get anything?

From my past experience, Segate drives are nice but their rebate programs suck. I've been fighting with Seagate's rebate processing service for my rebate since I've sent it in in Aug 2004. They tell me that my rebate is valid but the rebate has not gone out yet, they've told me this 4 times already.

For that reason alone, I won't buy a Seagate drive that has a rebate....No rebate, ok.

BTW, I sent in approx 10 to 12 reabtes in the last year and have gotten them all back except for Seagte's.

BEWARE SEAGATE REBATES!!!

I agree with jeffs99. I purchased a Seagate HD in September, 2004 mailed in my rebate info early October and still have not received the check. Following up on rebate web site is useless and calling toll free number, gets no results either.

Nah, my maxtor has that clicking sound once in a while too, have been running for 9 months like this 247 on a file server with no problem still (2 relocated sector however).

I do have 2 of these Seagates and they are dead silence, good drives.

Well, a bit of a coincidence that I posted this today, b/c the check finally came in
Thx for the feedback on SG

After only 3 months of use, my seagate started fail. So I did the windows error checking and it reported everything was ok. Ever since then, the drive hasn't acted up at all. So now, im just waiting for my rebate!
