Seafood processing water. Neat!

Now there is a method for recovering nutrients from the water used in processing seafood. From Treehugger.com
So it seems that a lot of nutrition is thrown away when the water used to process fish is disposed of. This discarding looks like fisheries spend 1,000's of dollars on this.

No one else sees this new tech as useful? This could provide directly or indirectly food for many more people or at least be used as feedstock for producing even more food.

That's pretty much just shellfish stock.
I wonder how quickly will this tech will be adopted by fisheries? The money saved from having to discard what is now a waste product by itself should add up. Having an additional product to sell will be a huge bonus from them on top any savings.

I'm sure they can remove the excrement, specially if they are planning on using this for Human consumption.
 
Or they could sell it to the Chinese and hope the deadly bacteria soup would effectively kill all the viruses.
Theres actually a lot of research going into the opposite thing.
There are viruses that prey on bacteria and as we are running out of antibiotics targeted bacteriophages might be a partial solution.

The Russians were doing work on it ages ago. They used to take samples from the dirtiest rivers (near sewage outlets or abattoir run offs) and add those to tanks of a specific cultured bacteria and see what phages multiplied.
 
I'm wary of recycling anything so tightly to the food production cycle. Has everyone forgotten what the U.S. has done to chicken production?

I've always wondered if insects are delicious. The bugs of the sea are amazing(lobster/shrimps).

Excuse why would anyone in the West, especially in the US would want to eat those things which are not even food?
