I love all seafood, especially sushi, but Uni is one thing I cannot handle. It tastes like super fishy snot or pudding. It seriously tasted rotten. I'm think the times I've had it it hasn't been fresh (?)

I'll give it another shot but really it was one of the nastiest things I've ever eaten.

I can understand. The first time I had uni was at those all you can eat sushi joints. Huge huge mistake. The uni there was definitely not fresh.

Uni is not fishy at all. If it tastes fishy then you got some bad uni.

$8 for two pieces of gonadic goodness in San Diego, CA

Yeah, usually around $6-8 for two pieces. I've never had bad uni either.

are you sure? that sounds really cheap.

You guys ever try this? Live octopus while it is still moving ....

link

I can barely eat seafood like canned tuna because of the smell and whatnot, how will I be able to eat stuff like this? Become more brave? I dunno ...

Because the tentacles' suction is still active, it can stick to consumers' mouths and throats.

I had some insane toro the other night...... I LOVE fatty tuna.

Also had some great spanish makerel (not really a makerel but w/e).

i always feel guilty since when you toro a la carte at a good sushi restaurant its always insanely expensive

me too. the gf looked at me funny last time when she heard how much it was

Toro's not too expensive. There's a sushi restaurant by my place that has blue fin tuna sashimi... $250 for a single order.
