Sea monkeys

I believe several people here mix up "sea monkeys" from time to time. They're just brine shrimp & people feed them to their fish.

For better sea-monkiness, see the South Park episode. "Simpsons Already Did It" episode from 2002.

"Sea-People + Sea-men = Sea-Ciety."
"Yeah, I bought all that I could at this bank, and then I got the rest of it from this guy named Ralph in an alley. And the sweet thing is, the stupid asshole didn't even charge me money for it, he just made me close my eyes and suck it out of a hose."

i had them when i was a kid, we're moving into a new office and i can't bring a big ass fish tank, so we're just gonna get sea monkeys as pet... they're like disposable...

Get a couple of hermit crabs. They make nice low key office pets. If you go that route, do some reading on the web. Most people don't give them the proper habitat, and they die quickly.

If you want to take proper care of these little guys you are going to need a decent sized tank.

They can live up to around 30 years but most people think they are a throw away pet like goldfish and sea monkeys sadly.

I suggest if you want something that you can toss away once a few weeks or so that you just get some sea monkeys / brine shrimp.

A five gallon aquarium and a betta would do nicely.

Female + male?
Male + male? <-- = FIGHT!
Female + female?

😀

just be sure to give them some air...

several years ago, I had some that lasted for quite a while. Recently, though (like, 1 month ago) a lab down the hall was giving away artemia (sea monkeys) as they had way too many of them (crab food). I took a vial home in a sample container, and well...screwed the lid on a wee bit tight.

🙁

last summer my boys had some sea monkeys... just the basic kit. They hatched and lived for a few weeks. Just when I thought they were about to die off, a new generation would spring up. Anyways, we had sea monkeys for close to 5 months IIRC; probably 5 generations.

We're actually going to start up some triops tomorrow. 🙂
