SD1000 camera won't turn on anymore...wtf?

The camera is literally brand new, I bought it not too long ago and it's been sitting in the box for a few weeks. I took it out today to snap some pictures but the damn thing wouldn't turn on. I took the battery in/out, stuck the USB charger in, nothing works...what is going on?

it doesn't charge over USB. Did you try to charge the battery?

batteries don't come charged, so if you've not taken it out of the box you'll have to charge the battery first. with the wall-wart.
