SD1000 camera won't turn on anymore...wtf?

The camera is literally brand new, I bought it not too long ago and it's been sitting in the box for a few weeks. I took it out today to snap some pictures but the damn thing wouldn't turn on. I took the battery in/out, stuck the USB charger in, nothing works...what is going on?
