Thoughts? I'm leaning toward the Mine...this zalman 9500 can't seem to keep up with load temps on this conroe (62-64C @ 1.4825v dual priming.) Suggestions?

Mine or Zalman, Mine or Zalman.

I looked at it...it doesn't impress me all that much honestly. 2-3C better than the mine and like twice the weight. I'm just curious if the Mine will do better than the zalman under load.

Yes, check out the madshrimps.com roundup. The mine also costs almost 1/2 as much! Is this for the rig in your sig? If so, get the ac freezer 7 pro. It has identical temps as the mine except a 1c defecit in load temps for $21 shipped. The mine costs ~$35. The freezer 7 pro is the intel equivelent of the freezer 64 pro.

Well I just got the mine and the scythe 2,000rpm fan to replace the stock 1,500rpm...little late on the freezer but oh well. Going to install here momentarily. Crossing my fingers for better load temps.

This is indeed for the rig in my sig.

You could have used the saves $15 to upgrade all the fans in your case or something... but you'll be very happy with the scythe mine I think, definetly get back to us on your experience.

Interesting!

I'll be curious to see how this works out for you. Make sure to post back when you get it setup, okay?

I'm running a Mine 3 on my rig, and I've been pretty underwhelmed by the whole experience, however, I'm running the OEM fan.

Ok, the difference here is NUTS

On the zalman, 35-36C idle...62-64C dual priming

On the mine, 28-31C idle....47C dual priming!! (Currently running 3.4ghz @ 1.45, the zalman at these settings would fail prime instantly)

The zalman was holding me back the whole time it seems. It wasn't a mount or paste issue with the zalman either, it just couldn't cope with the load temps.

Heh! Even more interesting!

It's fun 'talking' to a someone on Anandtech that hasn't posted 15k 'one-liners'!

Soooo... You replaced the 42.69 CFM OEM fan with an "almost 60 CFM at only 2000 rpm" fan [58 CFM actually], and it's working great, eh?

Hrm...

Well, I guess I know what my next purchase will be! I sincerely doubt it's going to be a Scythe fan. I need some orange in my case -- the blue LEDs are driving me crazy -- but it sounds like the Mine needs more air...

Makes sense, really! These things are made to be quiet, not to be all-star performers. That should have been my first clue. Maybe I'll stick a 120mm in there, and let it overhang the fins. I have the room...

Okay, I'm talking over the fence now, so I'll stop.

Thanks for the update! You've given me some ideas.

Well deltas are probably the highest CFM fans you can get. Of course they're as loud as a 747 on takeoff.

True, but I suspect, with the Scythe Mine 3, that the law of diminishing returns would set in rather quickly!

Since I have one of these things, I can tell you they don't work all that great, as is. I read a review, for instance, where the author got a flashlight and looked into the fins, to see if the fan was turning -- it's that quiet, i.e nothing much is happening with the OEM fan. So, what the OPer is saying makes perfect sense to me!

Woo hoo -- Woody! 12cm blue/orange 77.7 CFM @ 2000 RPM (28.95 dB)...

Yep, working excellent with the 58CFM fan. I'm still not prime stable @ 3.4 (goes about 2 hours before erroring out), but it's definitely not due to load temps. Just need more volts. I'm going to throw the 1,500rpm fan into the front of my P180, and use it as an intake infront of the hard drive cage.

I'm also thinking about going to a 120mm fan, but since it'll overshoot the fins a bit, I'm not sure if the extra size will help all that much.

It wasn't the chips fault, the zalman just couldn't hang under load. I'm dual priming now @ 51C 1.475v

My Scythe Infinity does 27-28 at idle and 35 while priming. This is with a E6600 at 3.3 and 1.475 Vcore. Ambient is 19. The CPU is lapped.

I'm thinking of buying this scythe infinity cooler to replace my 9500 LED!

how heavy does it feel?

It's scary to think that if it falls, it can take the motherboard, the cpu and any cards below, video card, tv tuner.......

That just goes to show from computer to computer not all heatsinks are created equal!!
There are people who swear by the 9500 and there are others who swear by the Infinity and even others who get real good results using the Arctic cooling heatsinks.....
Its really almost a crap shoot at time! But once you do find the correct heatsink that works for you like is real sweet!! :D
