AHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Looks like the sapphire crystal lens cover held up, lol.

Anyway, that looks like someone took a Brillo pad to it. Obviously not normal use and any phone would look like that with such abuse.

Doesn't seem like it's a small problem.
76 pages detailing the "scuffgate" issue.
39.2% of black iPhone owners already had it scuffed out of the box before they even opened it.
Another 8.79% mentioned it scuffed a few days later.(iPhone 5 has been available for how many days?)

Apple could solve this problem by not being cheap or by making iPhones available only in silver(and not black or white), similar to Ford Model T available in only Black. 😉

And here I was thinking the theme for iPhone5 would be "Mapgate".
Antennagate, Batterygate, and now Scuffgate?

Reading the comments was amusing. Some the devoted are thinking Samsung shills are swaying the damange count....Go figure!

I'd hope so it's one of the few improvements. 🙂

Extreme scratch testing for sure. Guess it's what it'll look like after going in and out of skinny jeans for 6 months or so.

You should lock it for the "gate". That shit needs to be outlawed. Its mostly a problem in politics but everywhere is too much.

Well it's not like it's gonna be the last "gate" anyways. It's just a figure of speach so not sure why it even bothers you at all.

The next one looks to be iOS 6 clockgate http://www.dailytech.com/Swiss+Rail...aling+Clock+Design+for+iOS+6/article27751.htm

I don't understand how something like this isn't found during testing. Do they not let anyone field test their devices before launch? I bet handing them out say 10 of their employees would easily discover this problem within a week.

Although, it is kind of funny really because of how they showcased just the level of "detail" that goes into building it. I guess they didn't pay any attention to actually using the device.

Agreed.

Just rename the post to something like "iPhone 5 has potential problems with scuffing on rear of device" which is much more informative.

It's not just the rear, though.

The steel band is also "susceptible". Basically anything that's aluminum and black on the iPhone 5 is going to turn silver when scratched or scuffed. It's not just the back or rear of device.

He already described that in his first post though.
The only problem I saw is that he didn't provide any links or evidence.
I had to search "scruffgate" and "scuffgate" in Google to find out what the hell that was.

I'm still not seeing any evidence of a class action lawsuit, and no links, and while one CNet blogger has picked it up, I don't see that the larger media is tracking this.

Besides, I truly don't see the point of this. No phone is scratch proof. If there's truly a material defect and there's truly a lawsuit, then I'll let this thread stand, but in the meantime I say that let the phone that is scratchproof cast the first stone. I'm locking.

And Runawayprisoner this is the second time that I've asked you for links on this. If you are going to post up something controversial, I would ask you to back it up with links. Otherwise it just looks like you are trolling.
