SCUBAPRO dive gear>*

😎

I use a 15 year old scubapro BC and reg set myself, still going strong, BC looks a little faded is all.

But my old man just bought a brand spanking new scubapro BC, and omg it's hawt 😀

while I'm not a brand whore, they do make some good stuff.

easy to use and durable. Then again I've never had any gear fail on me so I wouldn't know...as long as I can get air I'm happy.

-edit-
what do you need a BC for ya noob? You got lungs, use them.

Buoyancy Compensators
You're floating in the water. You rock back and forth peacefully with the swells, preparing for a head first dive into the deep blue. The world the diver lives in is constantly changing. It is quite literally a fluid environment that calls for constant adaptation. The buoyancy compensator (BC) is the platform of the SCUBA diving system that provides this flexibility and its importance should not be overlooked.

A well-designed BC provides stability and facilitates precise changes in underwater body position, allowing you to effortlessly see the world around you. The success of SCUBAPRO BCs lies in the details. All conform securely to the diver's body to minimize drag and provide a comfortable, nonrestrictive fit around the shoulders and waist

you don't need a BC to dive.

you got these things called lungs to regulate your buoyancy.

Although they do make it a lot easier.

WARNING - don't try this at home.

-edit-
Nice marketing speak. BCs are extremely handy, but not necessary and for me a nice safety device. Heck, once the tank gets low it time to go up anyway.

WARNING - this is just some guy rambling on the intarweb, don't listen to me.

heh, yeah...then you gotta lug yourself AND the tank up.

I do dive with a BC most of the time when going below 75 feet or so, safety factor.

But I try to keep my weight to a minimum. Hate futzing with buoyancy on a dive.

I have a friend who's wife works for Aqualung. The company is literally right down the road from where I work. They have these employee only sales about 2-3 times a year and I've picked up some nice gear. I picked up a couple nice self purging masks for $5 each last time. Wetsuits for $10 each. Dive fins for $5 a pair.
