SCSI troubles --- FIXED

Just received a shiny new Sanyo BP5 drive the other day (24x10x40 cd-writer) and now have it hooked up to a new LSI 21040 controller. Problem is, it appears as 14 different drive in Windows 2000. LSI's FAQ suggests that that older drives that do this would need new firmware, but this drive is actually newer than the controller card.
Has anyone else seen anything like this? Any ideas?

Have you downloaded the latest bios update for you SCSI controller? I had a whole world of problems while installing w2k until I updated the bios on my adabtec SCSI card. I don't know if that helps, but...


Also, double check that you have the cd drive properly terminated. Unplug the terminator, blow it out, and try re-plugging it in. SCSI can be really sensitive to a poor or sub-par connection, from my experience with it.
 
Right now the CD drive is the only SCSI device in my machine and it's terminated on the drive itself. So far I haven't been able to find any firmware updates for either the drive or the card.. 🙁
 
Problem solved- For some reason there is a problem with this drive as either device 5 or 6. When I switched it to device 4 everything worked beautifully. This drive runs screaming fast...no more IDE for me! 😀
