I have a scsi 300GB hitachi ultrastar 10k300 Seris hard disk drive {HUS103030FLF2R0} that i wish to use with a dell optiplex GX280 desktop. i purchased this on ebay last year, an didn't know the seller had pulled a whammy/fast one,{altho i'm at fault as well for not asking before buying,i was so excited about winning the bid on the auction for such a high gig harddrive i had forgot to ask} and never mentioned the fact it's not ide or sata. had i sent it back, after paying shipping AGAIN to send it back, the loss i'd have to take wasn't worth it. so i decided to hang onto it an try to sell it to someone who knows what it is and how to use it, seems not many ppl know scsi hard drives or how to use them. i desperately need the extra 300gigs,which is the reason for purchase to begin with, BUT, no way can i afford to spend a crap load of money to make this thing work. the hard drive itself is screwed into what i'm guessing would be the plastic carriage used to slide it into the 'server computer' {which has what looks to be a plastic plug used for the power supply needed to run the extra stuff in the end of the carriage}. it has a 'mini computer board' with two led lights, 1 rd 1 grn, and a hinged plastic piece that allows u to open the top part of the carriage, part of the way to see the inside. R2F-J300FC SG2 5524270-D 61 717BDVAVP5L5A is the info on the inside of the hinged part. model DKR2F-J30FC SERIAL NO 55VAVP5L5A is what's on the hard drive itself.

again, any help atall would be GREATLY appreciated.

That's a Fibre Channel (FC) drive, there's no way you're going to make that work as is without spending a ton of money on an enclosure and HBA for it. From what I can tell, this is a true native FC drive, in other words, even if you took it apart there'd be no SCSI connector to plug into.

I realize this thread is pretty old but though I might as well give it a shot since not much info can be found online these days.

I have a Maxtor 7345SR Hard Drive, 345MB (Yup, MB), and a 50-pin connecter which I assume is SCSI. I need to retrieve info from this drive and possibly setup another computer with the info (it has Mucomp 3 Turbo operating system that was designed for labeling machines by a Swiss company called Muller-Frick).

I tried looking into the tower to see if I could spot anything wrong but soon came to realize I know close to nothing about 1980's machines. There seems to be no processor, it has 2MB of RAM, piled-up in a single card consisting of 8, 256KB smaller cards and, overall, more jumpers than I've seen in my life.

Any hints, advice and/or directions?

Welcome to the forums danchan! As you've noticed, this thread is quite old. That means your post qualifies as a "necro", which is frowned upon. Feel free to post a new thread asking for help though!
