scsi question????

Could anyone explain how scsi works? I know you use a controller card but that plugs into a 33MHz PCI slot. How does that make it faster. Can you get mobos that you can plug scsis directly into instead of into the controller card?

Even if there are any sites that clearly explain this it would be very helpful...thanks

Just so you know, scsi is a different bus than ide, just like the floppy controller is different. In this case however, it is the fastest transport available at a moderate price( i know there are exceptions people), and is very independant.


Think of it as Firewire vs. Usb

Yes, you can get motherboards with built in SCSI controllers, however those
boards usually command a premium price (they usually go into servers).
However, built in SCSI and IDE controllers are connected to the PCI bus just like
the PCI controller cards. There is no real difference other than the fact that you
save a slot.
