is there a difference between a 68 pin scsi HD and a 80 pin hd?

if all spes are the same spindle speed 10k, u160 compatible

are there any perfomrace drops if u get a 80 pin to 68 pin adapter?

cuz i noticed that some of the 80 pin scsi HDs area bit cheaper...

and y do they make and 80 pin ?

1) yes. 80pin incorportates a power connector, enableing hotswapping
2) no difference
3) they make 80pin for hot swapping server people

the adapter required to convert 80pin to 68pin will run you $25-$30.

You can get the adapters for about $10 if you look around. The sticking point is that for them to work with LVD(U160) pin 46 of the 80 pin side must connect to pin 16 of the 68 pin side. A lot of the adapters are made for SCSI-2 only and lack this connection.
