Does it make a big difference from a SCSI to a eide burner. Is it worth the extra money to get the SCSI?

If you do ALOT of burning, it may be worth it. I have one machine with an ATAPI CDRW and my other system has SCSI. I prefer the SCSI hands down. I can burn and do other things without fear of the dreaded buffer underrun. It can cost alot more, but if you are a serious user, it is worth it.

I used to think that way about scsi vs ide(i went from a Ricoh 6x4x24 Scsi to a Plextor 12/10/32A), and then after seeing the plextor review with cpu usage fo 63% i got really scared.

But, now that i have the plextor drive, i am happy to report that my cpu usage burning at 12x on an ide burner is less than 5%... I personally don't play games while burning, but I can browse the web, listen to mp3s and such while burning without a problem.

If multitasking out the ARSE isn't that important while you are burning, I'd pick up the new Plextor. My friend has the 12x4x32x SCSI, and I have the 8x4x32x IDE ...I have used both, and it didn't really make much of a diff, until I tried to browse the net and download stuff...and a bunch of other crap...then I got a buffer underflow error. Still, when putting price under consideration, I'd go w/IDE in a second.
