SCSI ON ASUS A8N-SLI DEluxe

Hi every body out there, I am new to the computing hobby but i am getting to like it, so I decided to build my SLI System, would be Asus A8n-SLI DEluxe on a AMD ATHLON 64 Fx55, enermax 530W power supplay, and i am thinking of using watter cooling system,..... but my question is this, for what i gather reading nothing can be faster then a 15000 rpm scsi hard drive, so before i get them I need to know would my motherboard support 2 SCSI hard drive configuration. Thank you .

Any current mobo can support 2 SCSI hard drives as long as you have a SCSI controller card in it. Few consumer mobos have built-in SCSI controllers. The A8N is not one of them. SATA offers much better value than SCSI (price/size/performance). SCSI is generally reserved for demanding servers that require fast seek times, where value is not an issue. Furthermore, you will need some serious cooling for 15,000 RPM.

As said, that Asus board doens't have an onboard scsi controller, so you need one. If you have the money, I say go for it. You can't beat the speed or reliability of them. All I've had for years are fast scsi drives. I have a hard time buying ide or sata drives (but they are so much cheaper!). SCSI drives aren't usually very quiet. And they do create heat, just don't plan on a silent system.

Check my sig.. The loudest part of my system is the 6800GT, next are the 120mm case fans..

The drives just need some type of cooling.. ie they need to be placed in back of any fan.. 80mm - 120mm

My system when fans set to normal gets 71db vs 55db when using a fan controller.

Heat wise at normal fan settings I get cpu 44C, mobo 33C & when using a fan controller rises to cpu 50.5C, mobo 37C


So your case fans make more noise than scsi drives....
BTW, you can get a LSIU160 for about $35 , you'll need some scsi controller.

Hi, thank you for your answer, yes i know, but dont you think at least would be 20 o 30% faster than Sata. Let me know.
