SCSI drives making loud click & delaying in RAID config

Hardware: Adaptec 3200s RAID controller, 2x Seagate Cheetah 36gb 10k rpm drives in RAID 0

When I am transferring large files to or from this raid array, or if i am transferring files to the array over any extended period (with Kazaa for example), one or both of the drives will emit a loud click, followed by another about 2 seconds later, and file transfer activity will be halted during that time. This happens frequently. The controller has the standard 32mb cache, and I am using the default 128k stripe size (probably not the best). I am new to SCSI RAID, so any ideas for fixing this are appreciated.
