You won't find an 80-pin card anywhere, but you can easily get an 80 pin to 68 pin adapter.

ok so will a 68-pin card be able to handle a 68-pin HD AND a 50 pin CDRW?

Adaptecs don't generally suck. For instance, with the 2 channel scsi Adaptec 39160 U160 card, you can put all your legacy 50 pin Wide scsi peripherals on one channel and the supa fast LVD harddrives on the other, with the consequence that the older hardware never slows down the performance of the new.

I think recently adaptec had some quality issues, a budy of mine had two dead cards in a row... which is really unusual in any major manufacterer. Anyhow, all scsi is back wards compatible, but will only run at the controller's speed and specs. So any modern drive's advantages will be lost on an older card. So really, you can just buy adapters for all of your drives to make them fit whatever pin array you need. I personally like the tekgram series... I have the 390f and love it because it has BOTH 68pin and 50 pin channels on the same card.

Adaptec is the Intel of SCSI. Their products perform very well, but not necessarily better or much better, and they cost much more.

i have a 50 pin CDRW and 68 pin HD... so this controller will be able to run them both at their respective full speeds?

390F = ultra wide I believe.
390U3W/390U3D = ultra160

Both cardmakers card's will support 68 and 50 pin SCSI devices at their max speeds
remember that you don't want a SCSI CD devices at their theoretical max, they tend to actually perform poorly.
RW 's need to usually be set with specific settings on the card's BIOS.
Check FAQ section at nero or roxio for more specifics.

When you pay for adaptec the extra costs goes to stuff like that
