Will a Wide ultra scsi-3 hard drive work on an Adaptec AIC-7890 Ultra2/Wide LVD (Adaptec 2940 U2W-equivalent) card??

UW 40 should work fine on a UW2 card.

As long as you have a compatible cable or adapter for the drive it'll be fine, just at the slower speeds.
