i'm putting scsi hard drives in my new pc and was thinking about getting a 40x scsi cdrom. what are the advantages/disadvantages to using scsi cdrom's? it will be used mainly for loading software and games. how will it compare for that useage with a 52x ide drive? any help or advice will be appreciated...🙂

I've got a couple of 40x 50pin NECs that are quiet and seem to be built better than most of the typical 40-56x IDE drives.

The Plextor SCSI are nice because of the speed-control software. With the Plextor 32x in my old box I could set it to 4x and always-on for older games that would crash if the drive took to long to spin up after being idle (Heroes of Might & Magic 2 -- very annoying to win a game and have it crash trying to spin up and load the victory music 😛 )

Plextor also has excellent CD ripping tools, but I read somewhere you no longer get them in USA packages?
