SCSI Card --- ISA vrs PCI

I have a HP Scanjet 4P SCSI connection. It's hooked up with the
factory supplied SCSI card which uses an ISA slot. My question
is if I hook it up with a PCI SCSI card will I see a performance
improvment?

thanks, Ziggyman

I was hoping for a "BIG" yes in speed improvement because I'm
looking at motherboards and the ones with the 815 chipset don't
have ISA slots :-( I guess I'll stick to the BX boards.

thanks, Ziggyman

Why not get a cheapy pci scsi card? I believe that adaptec makes one that you can get one for about $50. But it wouldn't gain you any speed but you would be able to get your new motherboard and have the freedom of getting a scsi cd-r or dvd.

tekram makes some cheap scsi cards...scsi3, like 15 bux or something..and i doubt u would need to boot off the scanner =) so no need to get an adaptec. I personally am using a scsi card pulled from an external zip drive, to use on my yamaha external scsi burner..

The varieties of SCSI names is amazing.
Look at the scanner mnufacturer info for # of MB/s
If you are going to have less than seven SCSI devices
then the wide or narrow typpe is not a concern.
Last night an Adaptec 2940UW was for sale in the
for sale/for trade section of this forum.
Just satisfy that throughput number ,MB/s, and you are golden
