I had a 17" Black Sony SDM-S71 LCD...and after about 2 months of use, any black or dark colored pixels would be replaced by this bluish-greenish messed up looking pixel. So I called Sony, and they sent me another one, as it's still under warranty. I've been using the new one for about 2 weeks, and the problem came back. The problem persists even when I don't have the LCD connected to my video card. I'm using a built by ATI Radeon 8500 64MB DDR and it's connected via VGA. I've searched around the net and couldn't find anything similiar to my problem. Could it be my machine or am I just unlucky enough to get 2 messed up LCDs in a row?


The problem goes away(pixels return to normal colors) after I leave it on a black/dark screen for awhile...but then comes back after a few minutes of normal use.
 
I dont have another gfx card. And I thought that if the problem persisted when it wasn't connected to a vid card, that it would rule out the possibility of a vid card fault.

No magnets as far as I know...the only electronic devices I have around the monitor are logitech z540 speakers, an intel webcam, and a labtec mic stand...and a desk lamp if that counts.

Speakers have magnets. Try moving them.

They should be if meant for PC or HT use but are they? Consult your manual or google. I would try moving the LCD to another room and outlet before condemning it.
 
If it happens even when the cable is not connected, it's just phucked. Plus, if it was your video card, it would produce the problem right away, not after a few weeks.

Magnets don't have an effect on LCD's like they do on CRT's. I just tried putting a neodynium magnet against my LCD. No effect.
 
K, its probably the lcd then...sony said they'd rma that one too and I should be getting another one in a week or so. Thx for the help gents, pz.
