I called the support number listed on my AT&T premier site entered all my account information. Then I get a prompt telling me that that number is no longer the correct number and to hang up and call a different number. So I hang up, call the other number, enter all my account information again only to be told that that number wasn't the correct number and I needed to call a third number

So screw you AT&T. Thanks for not updating my premier page with the correct contact information. Thanks for not correctly updating the phone number on the message. Thanks for making me repeatedly go through your automated answering service and entering all kinds of account and phone numbers over and over again

Trying saying "Representative" over and over. Most automated phone systems will allow you to bypass all the bs if you just do that...

The best is when the automated system asks you for account information to make the process go faster, and the first thing the person says when they finally pick up is that they need to get the same information you just put into the automated system.

Usually if you say "operator" it will take you to a person.

I always try this first before I wade through the shitty voice command menus.

I love that one. We have Dell servers at work so I wind up calling Dell a lot for Server hardware RMA's. I first get someone to route my call and they ask for my service tag. I give them the service tag and they route my call. The first thing the person does when they answer the phone is ask for my service tag.

Can you submit service requests online?

You gotta love these gatekeeper type systems. They aren't there to for customer service (if they were this info would be passed to the rep), they are simply there to slow down the incoming calls. Sure they prevent a few unnecessary calls where people are calling in to the wrong number but that doesn't offset the pain actual customers feel.

I have found that AT&T automated systems work best if you say "Fuck" 3 or 4 times. You then get a support rep.

Works for me with Uverse at least.

awwww you special.............

Damn straight :colbert:

The only reason that matters is if you call the regular numbers they'll say 'Im sorry I can't help you. You'll need to call the premier line at....' (Well, that and wait times)

Happens every fucking time.
