Download ISO, burn ISO, Reboot and Linux runs straight of a CD..

Its freaking fast, boot to X-Windows (KDE 3.0) in about 2 minutes.

Every System Admin HAS to have one cd.. just in case someone hoses an NTFS partition then this can come to the rescue....

I am making 3 copies, one for my home computer (kept here just when I need to tool with Linux), one for my Computer tool kit and one for my laptop..

I tried it out a few weeks ago under the recomendation of a friend.
It had some strange problem where it would keep putting my monitor on standby whenever the desktop would load. I finally found a way around that, but overall its rather useless for me, since I can't get sound or Internet working on it. Other than that, its pretty cool (as OS booting off a CD like that)

Going to give this a try :)

This is a great way to show my mom and sister in law what a unix like OS is like without having to format their machine :)

If you are that impressed by a computer booting off of a CD you will love the OS from QNX that boots off of a floppy and has internet capabilities.

anyone able to get the wheel of a mouse to work? that seems to be the only thing that doesnt work for me.. it detected my c-media 8738 soundchip (onboard audio on my dragon+) and onboard NIC as well. and if my drives weren't NTFS, i'd be able to read them.. oh well. nice way to mess around a linux enviornment.. :)

Nope. Mouse wheel no worky.

Neither does my Audigy.

I've got an onboard CMI8738, and that worked, but I can't seem to control the volume. The volume slider in XMMS has no effect.

There is a change that has to be made to make the mouse wheel work. Its in the XF86config.. I forgot where it is.. but apart from that the thing works great.

As for volume on the XMMS system.. you have to use the external volume prgoram called KMIX..

I am posting from Linux again.. on the laptop.. this is sooo cool :)

I am going to carry a cd always on me.. you never know when you need it..
