Messing with my tubez. Granted I don't actually pay for HD content, but to hear they are recompressing local free-to-air clearQAM stuff is just ARRRGH!

They've been compressing HD channels and reducing quality to cram more content in. Long thread on this in AVSForums.

Only trouble I have with Comcast (besides the caps and the compression) is that I am addicted to Tivo. Bought a nice new 42" LCD, and the SD TiVO series 2 that I have will get upgraded pretty quick to an HD TiVO. The only HDTV system that TiVO works with these days (besides rabbit ears) - is cable. They don't do any satellite or FIOS or Uverse.

FIOS has their own DVRs as well IIRC.
not sure if Tivo is in any way better, but still, there are options with FIOS, Satellite, etc.

FIOS has their own DVRs as well IIRC.

It's not a TiVO. TiVO is better than any "own-brand" DVR. When will people learn that if it doesn't say "TiVO" on it that it isn't worth watching? Seriously a lot of people think a DVR is a DVR, so they go with the company version and it sucks ass so they don't know what the big deal is. USE a TiVO for a bit and you will then understand the awesomeness.

That's because it is. Grandma and Aunt Jenny just buy into it and don't realize how horrible the comcast HD looks. It's so funny that rabbit ears give you the best HD picture for OTA stuff these days. If only all the rest of the HD lineup was also over the air.
