Bought myself a refurbished Gigabyte 6600GT PCI-E from newegg for $149.99.. Atleast I got a working system right now with decent performance instead of waiting months for this POS X800XL preorders to start shipping...

<- Disgrunted ATI x800xl preorder customer.. :| 🙁 🙁 :|

On a side note, Anyone have experience with refurbished vid cards from Newegg? Do I have a good chance...?

I think the x800xl was a "corporate ploy" product, only intended to keep ppl from buying nvidia pci-e cards. With sli being relesased, there was no reason to even consider an ati solution.
Thus x800xl was born, to give ppl pause. It worked with me, when i needed to upgrade my system, i wanted an sli mobo but didnt want dual cards. The best single card solution seemed to be the x800xl, but it was no where to be found. I actually looked for this phantom card for over a week before i wised up and got a 6800gt.
Evil corporate marketg practices, I wouldnt be surprised when the card is finally released, its msrp gets bumped to 329 or even 350.

Did u guys notice how the psp's price was leaked at the nintendo ds launch as being 179, well it hits the street next month at 250. I hate these corporate pricing games.
I like ati products and my 9700 has to be one of my favorite and longest lasting cards, but ati is def on my sh1t list for this paper launch.

The PSP price is $250 for the "kit", whatever that is. Of course it'll probably be the only way you can buy it. The actual price might be $179, but there won't be any "bare" ones, only "kits"

Wrong. CompUSA had them for sale on their website TODAY for $299, but they are now sold out. How much did you pay for your 6800GT? (I'm assuming its PCI-Express, since you were considering the X800XL) $450? $470? You can get an X800XL for about $370 now, which is much less than the 6800GT PCI-Express anyway.

Wait a few weeks, and the stock will be there.

From what I've read, since newegg orders are filled with overclockers and modders, a lot of refurbished items from newegg are returned from people's failed overclocks and mods. There is a large portion thought that are simply from people not wanting them. It depends, you could get a card that's just as good as retail if not better! It's a gamble when it comes to newegg refurbished.

that's how i felt about preorder the X800XT PE from both CDW and Gateway.

I said forget it and just p/u'd the X800 Pro.

yeah, the X800/X800XL situation does seem pretty shady. They put the MSRPs WAY lower than they actually intended, to generate buzz, and keep people who would otherwise be buying 6600GTs or 6800GTs. The reviews I've read of the X800 talk about how great it is, and how it's knocked off the 6600GT as the best $200 card, but they don't seem to mention that it's running around $300 right now. Same for the X800XL, selling for $400. I understand they are new, and there is likely to be some markup, but a $100 markup (the exact price difference between an X800XL and a 6800GT MSRP) seems a little more than coincidental. At least when 6800GT PCIe's were expensive, it was because there was no competition on PCIe, and supply sucked. ATI's acting like there is no supply problem, yet they are raping everyone who wants to buy one.

Maybe ATI isn't acting about the no supply problem but its the retailers using the supply excuse to mark-up the prices and make a fortune. Isn't it strange how the low end ATI and NV cards have no supply problems but the mid to high range always have problems even when the product has been out for more than 6 months.

Point out a single card ATI sold above MSRP.

They don't even sell them LOL!!!! Cancelled preorder.... sad...

They're not "raping" everyone who wants to buy one either. I'll bet 80% of the cards they have available to order(if not more) would ship right away if you ordered Monday.

I had my X800XT PE order cancelled by ATI after sitting on order for 6 months which pisses me of course, but I could also have purchased the same card at MSRP several times during that period and simply canceled my order.

I also have a X800XL on order from shopATI, and if it ships...great, if not, its not the end of the world, and I'll bet I could find a card to buy if I wanted one.

To be honest, I'd much rather see some RX480 chipped motherboards hit the market anyway, its not like you can't get a good Vcard.
