I was playing CODWAW and all of a sudden my game stopped and my screen when black. I pressed the number lock key to see if it had locked up and it haddent. So I decided to press at tab to get to the desktop. Well it went to the desktop but the screen was blank except for the mouse curser. So I pressed control alt del, and it brought me to the vista screen where you choose to go to task manager, or whatever(here the screen isn't blank.) So i choose task manager...it then goes back to the desktop with task manager open and within 2 seconds the screen goes blank again. So I restarted my computer.

Update: After I restarted vista I got a problem report. Here is a pic of it. link

Can you still play the game?

Sometimes games just take a crap. That's what this case sounds like, as Windows was still functional after the game went down. Usually if it's a hardware problem the whole computer goes down, not just the game you're playing.

Do you have the latest Vid Card drivers? Is there plenty of airflow in your case? Is anything overclocked? Do you have the latest version of DirectX?

latest forceware drivers GPU is overclocked to my settings in the OP. My C2D E4500 is at 3.0GHz. I haven't had any sort of problems until this. How do I check to see if I have the latest version of DX?

So do you have any problems with other games or general non-gaming use of the system? Generally it takes more than one crash in a game to draw any conclusions.

Well, usually there is a minidump file in C:\WINDOWS\minidump whenever there is a crash. You could post that on a site like techspot and they could probably give you more info.
