im running my new computer, a signifigant upgrade from my old, and when i play World of warcraft i notice some bad screen tearing. i did't notice it with my old computer, and belive me i would''ve. what could be causing this?

my specs-
LG 204wide 20" using DVI-D cable
3ghz prescott
1 gb samsung ddr400
EVGA 6800 128mb
ASUS P4P800 SE
(the DVI cable is from an NEC monitor but i dont think that matters)

I agree, it could be due to Vsync being off. Your PC is strong enough to handle the VSync being off.

You could also turn up your details or quality settings so you end up close to 60fps. You may still get the occasional tearing but not too often.

I too get some tearing, especially in COD2 even with vsync on (vsync off makes it worse). Somehow though I think it isn't something that can be fixed. Vsync helped alot though and it doesn't do it too much now. Other games tear as well.

Ah, I didn't know you had vsync on. Turning up the details though would limit your fps so it was close to 60fps(lcd refresh rate) so it should eliminate tearing. I don't know what the problem is though if you have vsync on.
