Hey all, weird problem yesterday occured while I was playing Skyrim.

I was playing for like 4 hours and all of a sudden my screen split vertically in 2, n ot in the center and I could move my mouse cursor to the left and it would appear on the right half...

I could still control and click things so I exited the game. On desktop same problem. I had to reboot and all went back to normal.

What could have caused it? Artifact? OC? Overheating? Game bug?

BTW, I have the 6950 unlocked (no BIOS, just with the switch) and OCed to 875/1375 @ 1.175v.

First time I saw that or had an issue with the card...well is it the card or driver or something else? For other infos see signature.

Thanks for your help!

I had this happen to me in BF3 Beta and FFOW when I was using an unlocked msi 6950 ref. -- I lowered my oc from 925c to 900c and didn't see it again.

Might as well do that, thanks!

Well if it was a game bug it would disappear when I exited the game?

I had the same thing happen on my HTPC, only that this happened on a different game (AC:Brotherhood) and on my primary display (TV). I also had to restart to make it go away. I suppose resetting the display mode (switch off display clone and back on) could have fixed it too but I never got around to testing it.

Are you running Catalyst 11.10? This only happened to me after upgrading to this version.

Yes 11.10 WHQL. Maybe a driver bug then.
I slightly changed the clocks on my card after reading some post about stable clocks for the unlocked 6950. I went from 875/1375 to 880/1350 on 1.175v.

Ran Skyrim all evening and nothing happened, game runs smoother...even smoother than before. Probably a placebo effect though.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm inclined to think a driver bug indeed. I forgot to mention that this happened to me after enabling AMD Overdrive in Catalyst (and upp-ing the GPU core & mem clocks to the highest allowed). I'm guessing it's much less unlikely to happen at less aggressive or stock speed.
