Screen Sharing Software for XP 2500 Computer?

I have a xp 2500 with a gig of ram, and I've tried using tight vnc on my computer, but it lags too much when I'm running a server. It uses 100% of my cpu. It works fine when I view someone else's computer. Is there some other kind of software that will work on my computer?

run that pc in 16bit or lower color. install the driver/service.....ultravnc comes with it, not sure about tightvnc.
anyways 24bit rapes it.
full motion stuff or 3d stuff spikes to 100% fast. say like even task manager on the performance tab with the graph thats constantly updating...that spikes my old laptops p3 when normal windows only use maybe 5% on ultravnc.
what i want to know is if theres a way to force refresh to be very low..

I use UltraVNC and when I connect with the viewer, I choose the "modem" connection even if I'm on a local LAN. It works 60% of the time, EVERYTIME!

I found that installing the DFMirage driver helped a lot with CPU usage. It's a recommended add-on at the bottom of the TightVNC download page.
