Screen saver won't activate

Appreciate your help with this problem.

My screensaver (the standard XP version and I've tried several options) only activates when the delay time is set to 1 minute. When the delay time is 2 minutes or greater (i.e. 10 minutes, 100 minutes) it never kicks on.....the desktop just stays on forever.

Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.

i had the same problem, except even at 1 minutes it wouldn't come on. turns out it was the aol/kaspersky antivirus program - i uninstalled it and a few reboots later my screensaver (and monitor sleep, for that matter) works again

Give your mouse a quick check to see if there is any jitter. It isn't too common anymore, what with cheap and effective opticals; but I had a machine back in the day where the mouse pointer jiggled just enough, from time to time, to keep the screensaver from coming on.
