Screen saver locks after about an hour, Video card problem?

I have a computer that the screensaver locks after about an hour or so. Is it the aperture setting in BIOS? Or shadow settings in BIOS?

The system is moderately overclocked, so it could be that. I am not WITH the computer and will have to help the person out over the phone. I am thinking of having them lower the FSB setting to stock, and put back to stock specs in BIOS. I am just not sure that the overclock is the issue. The system has been tested overclocked and was rock solid. I am wondering if the problem may be the video card. It is running an ATI 7000 AGP card. Perhaps it needs a newer driver than it has? Or could it be the BIOS settings (such as the aperture-currently at 32mb).

Anyone think they have an answer....? Or just try the above.

Thanks

I have downloaded the latest driver (released December of 2002), and will see if the problem persist.

Which screensaver are you using? Have you looked on Microsoft's support site to see if they have a patch for that problem?

check your power saving settings, sometimes when a computer goes to 'sleep' windows doesnt let it come back.

if thats the case, update the bios, and look for msft patches

Yeah, sounds like there are other devices set to shut down at 1 hour and it just seems like the screensaver is locking up. But on another note, why run a screensaver? Most energy wasting invention there ever was I swear, see offices full of computers with the screen on overnight because people never think to shut off the monitor or even let it be shut off after an hour, but instead subject the cleaning crew to fish and Bill 'n Opus forever.

Heck with it, too tired to rant more.

Yeah, they suck.
I don't even set my monitor to auto shut off.
I just turn if off when I know I am going to be away for a while.

This is not mine. It looks like upgrading the driver, and also backing it down a bit (was running overclocked) has done the trick.

That's what I've heard for quite some time now, though I don't know enough about CRT tech to say why. Screensavers are just relics of the past from what I understand.
