screen refreshing in Win7

Hi there,

My Screen keeps refreshing when I first boot my laptop after about 2 minutes..How can I stop the laptop from refreshing? Any help is greatly appreciated.. Thanks in Advance..

Can you give a more detailed description of when this began, exactly what you're seeing the screen doing, and how often it occurs after it initially begins? There's a possibility that you're infected with the refresh virus. Can you post a screenshot of all the running processes in Task Manager so we can see if there's any process/s running that shouldn't be? Also, it makes a difference as to which administrative tools are available for diagnostics, depending on the version of Windows 7. I checked that Home Premium is the factory installation and just need to confirm whether or not you've since installed a different version.

Hi there,
It began when I installed an SSD on Christams Day.The screen would slowly load all the Icons and it would blink..As for a screenshot I don't know how to make a screenshot..i'm using windows 7 64bit home premium.

new ssd you should check the alignment maybe , I just use the ssd benck mark above
the 1024 ok is the alignment btw any number is correct as long as it has the ok
-also did you change the storage set up in the bios--
SATA configuration: AHCI.

Forget malware, this is a completely different ball-game now. Give the make and model of SSD you installed, then accurately describe the steps you took to install it. Also walk through the exact steps you took to install Windows 7 on the new drive, as well as what type installation media you installed from such as DVD, USB, or if you used migration software.

If the OP installed from Windows 7 DVD or USB media then sector alignment should be OK since the Windows 7 installer handles that natively. Here's a quick check that doesn't require any third-party software: click Start and type in msinfo32. Enter System Information and go to Components > Storage > Disks. Look for your SSD on the list and find the "Partition Starting Offset" item. If this number is divisible by 4096 (that is, if dividing it by 4096 equals a whole number and not a decimal), your partition is correctly aligned. If not, it needs to be realigned.

My SSD is an Samsung SSD 840 EVO 500GB..I installed the SSD into the laptop but didnt format..Was told that i should'nt format.. I used Paragon to migrate the OS to SSD..

OP, I believe the majority of mainstream disk editors that have been released in the last couple of years address 4 KB sector alignment, but you should still verify that it's aligned. As rgallant suggested to you, the AS SSD Benchmark utility is quick, easy to use, and useful for troubleshooting as well as comparing results when upgrading components or testing new storage drivers.

Hey guys,
I fixed the problem. It was because I had an external hdd connected to my laptop. I decided to install the hdd into my laptop and that fixed the problem with the screen refreshing all the time when I booted the laptop..Now it's much better..Thanks for the help..
