screen overly dark

Hi all. I have a Viewsonic p225f monitor and on Desktop things appear to be fine, in-game it's extremely dark with all the brightness turned up. Could this be possibly be a sign of it dying?

No other games, but monitors = yes: and they are not as dark. This is a "professional" monitor. Maybe that's how they are made? I say this cause the Desktop is fine.

Naaaaa ... hopefully some good news. Im guessing that it's like sound. There are in series a bunch of controls. At least one in windows, one in the application software and then another in the hardware itself. (In the case of sound, Ive found even more!)

You need to just poke around in different screens/applications to discover the available settings.

Not necessarily a sign of dying. I would try to play with color profiles. Maybe the wrong one installed, try defaulting?

I remember when I had an older ATI card, 3D games like UT would appear abnormally dark, even though the desktop looked fine. Some ATI drivers had bad gamma profiles for 3D games. I thought that problem was behind them, but perhaps it's cropping up again.

Do you have NV or ATI graphics?
