Screen goes black

My friend just called me and i figure i'd ask the people of these forums since u guys know the best. He says his screen goes all black for a few seconds and comes back on. It does it constantly. About 10 seconds in between.

Anyone have an idea on what's wrong with his computer? THanks
 
three things that I can think of right off the top....need to update driver, running too hot, or card is actually dying......
