Hello,

I just bought a Zotac GTX 295. However there have been some problems with it. :(
I installed the card and 181.20 XP Drivers, and i tested it with Red Alert 3, Bioshock, 3dmark 06. In the intro videos and menus of Red Alert 3 there has been massive flickering although the in game graphics seem fine. Bioshock's loading screen has massive flickering too and again in-game graphics seem fine.(Both ingames are not completely flicker free anyway)
But in 3dmark 06, although not as much as the loading screen, there is flickering while testing. When i force V-Sync on from Nvidia control panel the flickering not completely but mostly disappears. Is this natural? Or is there a complete solution for this problem than forcing v-sync on from the control panel ?

BTW I tried running with one gpu (Disabling SLI), the flickering disappears.
There is also a heavy buzzing sound coming from the card under load. :(
Shall I try to return or replace the card ?
Any help would be very much appreciated,

Thnx

Obvious question: Is the buzzing noise the fan on the video card spinning faster?

Describe the "flickering"? How frequent would you say "massive" is? Depending on your use of these words you could be describing micro-stuttering.

Its not coming from the fan, i maxed the fan speed using Riva Tuner, fan's noise is quite normal :)

I have knowledge about micro-stuttering and have seen examples of it but this flickering is occurs more and much more obvious on still images like Red Alert 3 Game Menu, but not much in-game.

EDIT: Does micro-stuttering make very little ghostly halos on shiny parts of the image rendered ?

Could be that one of the cores is corrupt. Is there anyway to control which GPU you disable?

No it dose not. Can you post a screenshot?

The flickering doesn't sound normal, sounds like the AFR images from both GPUs are slightly off. Try resetting all settings in the CP to default, anything color settings like gamma correction or digital vibrance also.

The buzzing is probably just the coils or caps on the card or your PSU vibrating at high FPS. Its pretty normal on high-end GPUs, but if its excessively loud you may get a quieter one through RMA (its pretty much luck of the draw).

If you can't fix the flickering issue, I would definitely RMA, ideally through your vendor if it falls within their replacement period and not the board partner.

Hi

Have you solved this? I have the same ZOTAC GTX 295 and the same issue you described.

Any helps I'll be apreciated. Thanks!
