screen cracked , replacement doubt

i dropped my tablet (dell venue 7) and the screen cracked with most of the bottom portion of the screen cracked.

the lcd is working fine (color, brightness etc.) and some areas of the upper part of the touchscreen work fine

I was wondering which part of the tab should i buy?(sorry no idea about hardware)
i googled a bit and have to come to a conclusion that i need to replace the 'digitizer'. am i right? what exactly is a digitizer?
help me out! thanks! 😀

you need the front digitizer. if the lcd is fused together with that piece of glass, it'll be a bit more difficult to replace as you'll have to carefully pry out the glass.

That's the digitizer/touch screen that you described as front glass, it is a very simple repair if you have the tools available. Look up "how to repair" videos on youtube for your tablet to help you fix it.
