Screen burn-in's aren't possible on LCD's, right?

I've been playing WoW out of control lately, and just got done with probably a 5-6 hour sitting.

As I logged off I noticed at the bottom of my Dell 2005 fpw there are some light remnants of the bottom bar on WoW (the thing with all your abilities and what not).

It's VERY faint, and you wouldn't notice it unless your a nut like myself, but I was under the impression LCD's were immune from burn-in's b/c of the nature of their operation.

Will this go away with time? did I have the wrong impression of LCD's? Should I quit playing WoW?

Cliffs:
1. Played WoW tons lately
2. noticed a slight "burn-in" at the bottom of my 2005 fpw
3. enlighten me.

PS this is what part of the alphabet would look like if we eliminated 'q' and 'r'

Are you sure they were not there before? Just sounds like backlighting issues which are very very very common with dells.

no, it's most deffinately the image of the in-game abilities bar...

It's about as faint as say... the way a fingerprint looks on an LCD, but I've looked at it very close, it is deffinately from the game

no, I've been very happy with this monitor. For all intents and purposes it's(was?) flawless (as far as I can tell)

I seem to remember when I first got thte monitor noticing some backlight bleed around the corners when the screen was a solid dark color... but either I've gotten used to it, or it has gone away, because I honestly can't find that problem anymore.

yeah, I plan to quit. My month is up in a couple days.

I was doing very well this semester, but my friends convinced me to sign back up for the last month of the semester. It kinda went downhill from there :(

well I have the 2450fpw and I leave it on 24/7 on one background. Doesn't look like I have any burn ins.

Had some monitors at work get some dark areas that were apparently caused by keeping them on overnight.

I have a 2005fpw and I get burn-in. My original wallpaper was very contrasting with black and white and it also contrasted a lot with the taskbar. When I switched to a solid color screen in a game you could definitely see where the top edge of the taskbar was. Having a bright white screensaver of a screensaver that was an inverted screenshot of my wallpaper/taskbar seemed to help.

Burn-in on LCDs is not permanent though.

I have seen faint remnants of an image on my 2005FPW also but it goes away when you turn the monitor off for a couple of hours.

I've got a bunch of 19 NEC LCD's that are not quite 3 years old at a 24 hour call center that have major burn in. I was suprised when I first saw it, but its on all of them now.

No, they don't "burn in." It's a temporary effect. Turn the monitor off for a couple hours and everything will be fine. My PC is on 24/7 and this monitor has been around for 3 years or so, and it's fine.

I always find it funny when the cliffs are nearly as long as the story.

Anyways, yes I can say for certain you can get the same burn-in affect on an LCD screen as you would with a poor CRT. I saw it with a Viewsonic monitor where it has a perfect imprint of Word Perfect at all times.

No, it is permanent. I have 25 examples.

Yeah, it is possible, though extremely difficult. There are a few examples over on AVS Forums too.
