Screen broken?

I have an acer 3810TG with a 13" screen, its kind of stopped working. It looks as if the light that lights the whole screen up is broken or something because if i shine a light on the screen i can barely make out things on it.

Is there anything i can do about this or would i have to send it in?

Looks like that one is an LED backlight. Probably something in the electrical supply for the LEDs. Recommend a qualified shop take a look at it.

The backlight probably died. You'll most likely have to send it in, if you're out of warranty, it might cost you. Or you could try buying a replacement panel and replacing the LCD yourself.

I see, thanks. Acer website says its out of warrenty but im sure i read i got a renewed 1 year warrenty as i had to send it back in due to a mass manufacturing defect with these models as opposed to a year from when it was bought. So hopefully they fix it for free.
