Geez, I eChatted with someone name Ashley. He said as long as we purchase from participating stores thru MSN Passport, we can get the MSN Award check. And MSN will notify us within a week via email.

Different answers from different people. Which one is the actual jerk? I guess I am coz I am so puzzled.

Hey guys....I was browsing thru the stores at Microsoft Passport and guess what????

STAPLES.COM is part of the passport.

This will be sweet, especially the specials that are coming this Friday.
Remember there is a 20off100 that expires 11/30/01. :)

<< It's really unclear if the promotion applies to ANY product from the participating vendors or just "Specially marked" products like shown on the MSN webpage. I too did a live chat with the MSN people, and the rep I chatted with didn't seem able to come up with a solid yes or no answer---she was just "pretty sure" any product would qualify, as long as it was purchased from one of the participating vendors. So buyer beware. I also expect them to yank the promo before the stated expiration date. >>

From the FAQ,
"Q. I just got an order confirmation from a merchant, but it didn?t mention the MSN Holiday Reward. Did my order count?
A. As long as you came to the merchant?s site from an MSN property and used Passport Express Purchase, your purchase will count towards your reward check. MSN will send you an email within a week after the transaction is completed that will confirm that the purchase will contribute to your reward. "

Sure looks to me like any purchase at their merchants is eligible for the rebate as long as you go through the Microsoft e-shop site or other "MSN Property". I'm gonna get the Nikon Coolpix for $369 + $100 gift certificate. The GC will be useful for accessories like the wide angle adapter, etc. Now how do I get the 3% ebates rebate along with the MSN promotion. Hmmm.

Staples.com is NOT part of the promotion. The ONLY stores that are participating are the 10-12 stores listed on the actual promotion page. LOTS of stores take the passport, but not all of them are part of this holiday promotion.. same way it was last year.

Has anyone gotten their passport account to work with 800.com yet? They got the best deal with the MSN deal. Ritz camera's so called $100 digital camera advantage is a joke! If you look at the details, it's a $100 "value".

avhokie,

Any special way of doing this? I'm still getting returned to the checkout page after passport. This is frustrating!

Well, if this MSN discount does work, then you can get a pretty good deal on a TiVo. 800.com is selling the 30 hour Sony SVR2000 for $400. It's got a $100 rebate from Sony, a $50 gift check from 800.com, and a $20 discount. Use ebates for another $11. If you want, you can add another $21 of merchandise for just $1 since that will bump you up to a steeper MSN discount.

$400
-100 Sony rebate
- 20 electronics sale
- 60 MSN credit
- 50 800.com gift checck
- 11 ebate
----
$159 :)

You still have to pay the TiVo subscription fee, but if you are in the market for one, it's a great price.

OK, here's the scope for those people having problems with 800.com and the passport purchase. M$ is aware of the problem and they are working on it. It should be fixed by tomorrow they said. I think 800.com is by far has the best deal!

I didn't do anything special to get Passport to work with 800.com. It just worked. Also, I don't know how people are using ebates with this, but the Passport deal says that you have to enter the store from their site. You're playing with fire if you try to use ebates....

Well, I did the deal with 800.com and did the passport sign-in and everything. However, once I finished the passport part, there was no indication anywhere else during checkout that passport had been used, is this normal?

I ended up saving almost $150 on a $415 purchase so thanks for a great deal!

Cold... Rebate is only valid on product with the "Get your MSN Holiday Reward" label. Read the detail from the msn rebate. I checked all the sites and I can't find any with this tag yet.

For the people that they think they got passport working...

If you had to put in your credit card numbers separately on 800.com checkout page then you didn't use the passport feature. 800.com has two buttons, one is for Passport holders which is a "one-click" purchase then the button next to it is the regular purchase where you have fill out the checkout forms. If you had to put in CC info separately then chances you won't get the $100 rebate. For most people, Passport feature is not working and the rep from MSN eshop said they are having problems with 800.com link.

I guess you can't take advantage of ebates or fatcash. I just ordered a nikon coolpix995 through photoalley. After I put it into my cart, I log in ebates and tried to check out with the ebates banner on top of the window. But after I clicked "checkout", it told me there is nothing in your cart! The same is true for fatcash.

Don't do it. Last year some people tried to do this and it worked with checkout, but they didn't get no rebate. They are very strict to the rules. Besides, MSN is basically just a referral site, as it ebates, so you obviously can't have two referrals going on.

Ok, I did it. Ordered the Nikon Coolpix 995 for $799.00. I checked out thru passport. It also said I earned $100.00 from photoally. So, I hope I will be getting an email from MSN about my rewards ($100)
I used my amex blue and am chomping at the bit to price match. Mother-in-law wants to know what I want for Xmas, this year a big gift. I just solved her problem.

Ok if you are looking at the product itself at MSN eshop site you will see that products from the participating stores (800.com, Mpsuperstore etc) all have the "Get your MSN Holiday Rewared" label next to the price. WHen you click on the price it brings you to the stores actual website where this label is not visible. This is probably what they mean when they say to look for the label. If you read it closely here is what it says: "Start shopping at MSN eshop. Products from participating stores will be labeled Get your MSN Holiday Reward. You may also click on one of the participating stores above to get started". So it seems that besides looking for the label at the MSN eshop site, you can also click at the participating stores and not have to look for the label as all the products there apply.

Last year the rebate was instant, meaning you got the discount immediately taken off your purchase price. Also it was possible to use ebates then. You didn't risk not getting the rebate because you got it taken off your price at purchase. I definately would not risk using ebates now because you are not able to see immediately if you got the MSN rebate.

Also, when I went from the MSN site and clicked on their participating store from their site. A pop-up screen was shown when I entered Photoally.com. Basically told of the up to $100.00 from Epassport.
It wasn't a certain item it was for anything bought at that store.

Here's an update from a chat I just had with Alicia E. at eShop:

If you are planning to buy many things from different places..........let's say, you buy a camera from Photoalley $500 and a watch from ashford $500. The only way to be sure you will get two $100 cash rewards is to use two different credit card numbers (kudos to Blue Private payment). Don't use the same CC# to buy things on every order.....you've been warned !

Just had a chat with them... the cash back is from whatever is CHARGED to your credit card. So if you use gift certificates to pay for your purchase, you're basically screwed.
