woah

Wes Craven is back at the helm.

Some of the main characters return.

And actors from all over the industry have joined.

let's see, you get President Laura Roslin, Sookie Stackhouse, that hot chick from that one CW show, or it may be NBC... (Hayden Panettiere), one of the Culkin kids, Anthony Anderson (the comic relief for this movie, most assuredly), Alison Brie (Community), that hottie from Get Him to the Greek (Kristen Bell), and some other young-kids that people probably don't care about, including a couple Disney (or something to that effect) chicks that might or might not be legal.

As previously mentioned, there's David Arquette, Neve Campbell, and Courtney Cox.

parts of it were filmed near Detroit. For a few weeks they were filming near my old job. Several women in my office were excited as shit because they were in the same coffee shop as Courtney Cox one day before work.

I find it funny that there turned out to be more Scary Movie sequels than Scream sequels.

When I saw the Scream 4 trailer the other day, I thought it was going to be a new Scary Movie. From the looks of it it will have more humor like the Scary Movie series, and doesn't seem as scary. Maybe they are taking some of the parody's success and applying it.

The Scary Movie series has humor in it? Shens.

Seeing Anthony Anderson in the Scream 4 trailer threw me off at first too since he was in the last Scary Movie.

I'm excited. I love the Scream franchise. I'm also a big fan of I Know What You Did Last Summer and Urban Legends. The "teen scream" genre, as netflix calls it, seems to have nearly died off. :(

saw it today,

was very solid. paid great homeage to the original and has the same feel to it as though they know they are making a movie as they are in the movie.

i also love how they made fun of the whole horror genre the past decade or so ... won't really go into more detail than that for spoiler reasons, but it was very very well done.

i liked how it ended as well.

That's what I always loved about the Scream flicks. They aren't super intelligent, but they are definitely what one may call a "serious parody", where they are trying to spoof the genre, yet still make a strong attempt at an entertaining film in the very genre it spoofs.

It was such a good parody, it spawned a new parody... :D
And hell, the parody that parodied the parody, itself spawned a mini-genre of parody... then again, one might also say the Scary Movie franchise, and the entire "____ Movie" franchise, was simply an attempt to mimic Mel Brooks famed series of parodies/spoofs.
