Scratched new car :(

Got 98' used civic (and license today) tried to park in guest parking in my condo but it was just too tight I heard a thump, I thought I had enough room but I hit a support beam and the painted got scratched. Its not horrible but I think I'm not responsable enough and a idiot for it. I don't know if you cant fix it easily (cheaply), they are pretty deep scratches. I don't know what to do to get over my anguish. HELP! Cars=SUCK Salesmen=SCUM OF EARTH.

I'm parking on the street for now on, its a busy street but its easier in some ways, I know I wont scratch it.

S*it happens, I once gently banged my dad's new maxima into a beam in a parking lot as well. Only time I ever did that, but we all need to scratch once to learn not to do it again

No body work involving deep scratches will be cheap. I would postpone fixing this until you have logged another year or so on your license.

Back when my Nissan Pathfinder was brand new I parked it at a cafeteria where I often had lunch. It was next door to a high school and when I came out someone had gone down an entire line of cars -- over a dozen -- and scribed a deep cut with some sort of sharp object from front to back on every car. The next time I had lunch at the cafeteria I said something to the effect &quot;Hope I didn't get &quot;keyed&quot; again&quot; to the cashier as I was leaving. She said they had been having a lot of trouble with cars being vandalized that way in their parking lot. If you feel bad about scratching your paint yourself, you can imagine how I felt about an eight foot long scratch all the way through to the underlying metal.

My parents wanted me to have a relibable car, o well. I try not to care as much.

hey go buy some turtle wax rubbing compound -- it comes in a plastic red tub (about 5.5 inches in diameter, 2 inches in height).

take that, and buff out the scratches.

if you didn't do that much physical damage to the car, then it should take out the paint scratches. i assume that some paint rubbed off the support beam and onto the car...

Croton thats exactly what I think...I think most of it is just paint from the beam or bad scratches.

know how you feel... sorta..

about 1 month after picking up my brand new off the showroom floor car, I was impatient waiting for a woman to move in a parking lot..

I sideswiped a big yellow cement pole in the parking lot, scratching the car and putting 2 dents in it.

I'm scared to see how much it'll cost to fix.. stupid impatient me
