is there a program i can use to get files off a scratched cd.i've cleaned and cleaned but i'm afraid to clean to much .there are files on it that i can not replace
?

I've recovered files off of cds for users using isobuster. It was free back in the day and a bunch of people still have the single executable saved in indexed folders.

This one looks legit, I checked it with McAfee and Kaspersky's online scanner

If you don't trust that, you can always get the newest one from their site. I'm not sure how the trial version is crippled so you might have to pay for it.

Once you've tried to recover as many files are you can using isobuster try one of the polishing methods on the internet like car wax, brasso, toothpaste, 60 watt light bulb etc.

Polish the surface of the CD with toothpaste. I know it sounds strange, but it has worked for me. Use the white stuff, not gel toothpaste.
