ABC story

John Edwards repeatedly lied during his Presidential campaign about an extramarital affair with a novice filmmaker, the former Senator admitted to ABC News today.

In an interview for broadcast tonight on Nightline, Edwards told ABC News correspondent Bob Woodruff he did have an affair with 44-year old Rielle Hunter, but said that he did not love her.

Edwards also denied he was the father of Hunter's baby girl, Frances Quinn, although the one-time Democratic Presidential candidate said he has not taken a paternity test.

I was one of his defenders (in the sense that I wanted more evidence...innocent til guilty). Now that it is has to light via a confession no less, he should not be considered for any positions in an Obama administration.

I was too young to know what was going on when Bill went through this in '92, but I don't think Edwards would have been able to recover from that with a dying wife on his hands.

Back then there was an expectation that the private stayed that way. Hart is a rather different case.

Well it's clearly a majorly dickish move, but Elizabeth has cancer, she isn't dying. She was on Colbert Report a few weeks ago lookin pretty good for a 60 year old, cancer or no.

Anyway, it's no worse than cheating on your wife who was seriously mangled in a car accident, and a lot of people don't even think that disqualifies you for the presidency.

It's just a variation of how self hate ruins our lives. He has no idea he hates himself and unconsciously needed to destroy his reputation that so didn't match his real feelings. Look at what happens to people who win the lotto. In no time so many of them are poor again, just as they feel they deserve to be. Self hate is the E=mc2 of human emotions, the grand unifying theory that explains everything and hasn't been discovered yet because nobody wants to know.
