The prize has become pretty irrelevant right now and not to mention worthless in light of men like Yasser Arafat getting it.

And oh yeah, the U.N needs to take a hike too.

Why would you want to scrape the nobel prize. I've scraped my knee before, quite painful...

Yasser Arafat attempted to negotiate peace with the Israelis. Why do you think his winning the Nobel Peace Prize for that makes it irrelevant?

Al Gore on the other hand, I have no idea what his environmentalism had to do with peace.

ROFL. The man practically invented modern terrorism. His peace attempts were laughable at best.

Didn't you know that stopping climate change will help prevent future world wars over increasingly scarce resources?!?

On a more serious note, you don't honestly believe that Yasser Arafat was making a good-faith effort at peace negotiations with the Israelis, do you? That's about as believable and worth as much (i.e. nothing) as Osama bin Laden's "offer of peace" that was extended just before the 2004 US elections.

The UN used to do some good, but it's been a joke and made a mockery of itself in the past decade. The only hope it has of becoming the strong international body that it has always wanted to be, is for it to grow into a true world government. But the day that happens and is welcomed by all, is the day we colonize the Moon and Mars and establish governing bodies on those colonies.

As far as you are concern he should have been happy to live under an apartheid system, I am guessing a conscience is something quite alien to you isn't it.

errmm...

the Nobel Prize is not ALWAYS the Nobel Peace Prize. It can be awarded for Physics, Chemistry, Literature, Peace, and Physiology or Medicine.

True. But Al Gore didn't the Nobel prize for Physics or Literature. He won the Nobel Peace prize... so with all due respect: what's your point?

Any award Al Gore has ever recieved should be scrapped or renamed entirely as to not insult any future winners.

You're right. They should change it to the Nobel War Prize and give it to whoever kills the most people and/or blows the most sh1t up.

Don't be silly. The last thing we need is Bush getting more awards.

I can't wait for the first person to either publicly reject the prize or burn it in effigy.

err, what makes you think you have any say on whether they scrap it or not?
