Scrap Error in Photoshop

When I try to create a new file in Photoshop 6,I get scrap error... what is this and how can this be helped?

I have 256MB of ram so that shouldnt be a prob.

Not enough space on C is the issue, I believe.

You can change your scrap disk, I think. File --> Prefs --> Scrap/Cache file (don't quote me on this)

BTW, I have about 700 MB of free space on my harddrive.

But I have to know exactly what I have to do.

I freed up hard drive space,I now have 1.3 out of 4 gigs remaining. And it still says I'm out of disk space. Can anybody help me?
