Scott Walker donates $400 million to the Milwaulkee Bucks

Whats the total combined payroll for the bucks? a couple hundred million? I suppose between the taxes on that and the revenue generated by the team, maybe it turns out a net positive for the state? Dunno, just asking.

Find me a study that shows stadiums paid for by cities is a net benefit for the city. The answer is you can't.

If stadiums were really very profitable, don't you think owners would build them themselves, thereby keeping all those profits for themselves?

Big government conservatism at its best. Cut money from education and give to billionaires so they can build a playground for millionaires.

So what this guy saying on the campaign trail??

1) Spending on k12 education is up.

2) Spending on the UW system was cut, and a big reason for that cut is that for years the UW system was overfunded, they has ~1billion dollar slush fund they accumulated over the years. The cut would only put a dent in that slush fund.

3) the arena plan has passed with BI-PARTASIN support, and is being built in the a democratic city.

Any evidence for #1,2?

For #3 even if its a Democratic city, that's an excuse to act completely opposite principle and how he is campaigning? Still believe this guy? I guess so as long as the rich get all the benefits vs average citizens.

My apologies I forgot about one benefit for the poor. Discount upper level seating.

These ridiculous stadiums cut across both aisles. I should know living in MN. Mark Dayton, a millionaire couldnt wait to get a 1 billion stadium for Zigi Wylf, a billionaire.

I suspect the owners keep all the profits anyway. I doubt that any of these projects are a net benefit to the state, and perhaps not even to the city.

They do, although it is pretty rare for someone currently running for president as a fiscal conservative to flush this much money down the toilet during the campaign.

At this point I feel like the feds should step in to stop this shakedown. The NBA, NFL, etc, have an antitrust agreement. We should tie a requirement to not requesting any public money for stadiums to that.

The whole new stadium thing is a scam where the people of a city are convinced to give hundreds of millions of dollars to billionaires.

Google does exist

62% of the Wisconsin Assembly Democrats voted yes for this

Again, this shit crosses parties but he's the one claiming to be a fiscal conservative while flushing hundreds of millions down the toilet on a stadium while pleading poverty for university funds.

the university has over a billion in a slush fund.

If the university is crying poor its due its own bad spending.

I'd be all for something like that.
